Your skin is constantly under attack. Wind, sun, cold, fatigue, emotional changes, hormonal swings and the simple passing of time all combine to wear away at it’s structure. If that’s not enough, your skin has a natural moisture retaining compound called hyaluronic acid (HA) that adds support and structure to our skin. Due to the ageing process the production of HA and collagen inevitably declines which correlates with the appearance of wrinkles and loss of volume.
The younger the face, the firmer the skin and the more defined the contours. The face is symmetrical and ‘V’ shaped. As we age, regardless of how good our genes are, all types of skin eventually lose their tone. Proportions shift and volume reduces. Your cheeks sink downwards, the chin goes limp and the face becomes broader at the bottom …….. that youthful ‘V’ shape turns upside down and our age becomes increasingly visible, regardless of how young we feel.
Dermal fillers are a fantastic weapon against the ageing process. They are such versatile products being able to rehydrate your face, neck, décolletage and hands as well as filling folds and wrinkles and replacing lost volume in your cheek, backs of hands and sagging jaw lines.
The dermal fillers we use at Skin Deep are well researched and scientifically proven to be safe, effective and long lasting. We can replace hyaluronic acid and stimulate your own collagen production with fillers such as Teosyal®, Boletero®, Emervel®, Restylane® and Radiesse®. So, how do these fillers work?
Radiesse® – the Volume Filler that Enhances Volume in Face and Hands
Radiesse® is a unique dermal filler made from synthetic calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a water based gel carrier. Once injected, the gel matrix augments the volume of the dermis instantly. Additionally Radiesse continues to work over time. The CaHA microspheres stimulate production of the body’s own collagen, which prolongs the volume replacement over an extended period of time. Radiesse is the ideal choice for total facial and hand contouring. It can restore a healthy youthful appearance, enhance your existing features, helping you defy the signs of ageing and increase your confidence – all without invasive surgery.
Radiesse® dermal filler meets one of the most rigorous standards for aesthetic facial injectables. Since Radiesse received FDA approval in 2006 (the American board that regulates the use of medicines and medical devices in the USA) over 2 million syringes have been used worldwide with an excellent satisfaction and safety record. In Europe Radiesse is fully approved with the CE certification mark. Radiesse has been a much loved brand for many practitioners and clients.
Radiesse® is used in many areas to enhance volume:
- Nasolabial folds: reducing the lines that go from the nose to the corner of the mouth.
- Shallow cheeks: replenishing the volume loss caused by reduced collagen production and fat loss.
- Marionette lines: reducing the lines that go from the corner of the mouth down to the jaw line.
- Nose, chin and chin fold: correcting indentations, tips, bumps and unevenness.
- Jaw lines: defining the contours of this area.
- Eyebrow and temple: lifting the eyebrows and filling out the hollow temples.
- Earlobe: enhancing the fullness and smoothness of the earlobes.
- Hand: retaining a plump and youthful appearance in the back of hands.
The advantages of Radiesse®:
- Immediate results due to the elastic gel-matrix.
- Prolonged effect thanks to collagen stimulation.
- Lasts 12 month or longer in many patients.
- Well tolerated and no allergy test necessary
Belotero®, Teosyal®, Emervel®, Resytlane® – Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
These fillers can correct facial lines and give more volume to lips and cheeks. Using hyaluronic acid fillers is a natural way to restore the body’s own hydrating agent to your skin, giving your face volume and helping to smooth out lines. Its unique structure allows it to completely fill dermal spaces of differing sizes, providing a smooth transition between treated and untreated areas whilst producing a natural and lasting effect.
The advantages of hyaluronic acid fillers
- Natural and smooth, free from lumps.
- No allergy test required as the fillers we use is a non-animal substrate product that is completely biocompatible and biodegradable.
- Low “down time” thanks to the low level of pain and trauma due to the low and even injection pressure.
What can it do?
- Fine, superficial line correction around the eyes and mouth
- Hydrating the décolletage
- Superficial to medium wrinkle correction of the cheeks and smile lines
- Deeper winkle correction such as the lines from the corner of the nose to the corner of the mouth and the corners of the mouth downwards.
- Lip definition and volume enhancement
How long can these fillers last?
Whilst treatment can last many months, the results are not permanent. Over time, hyaluronic acid degrades naturally. Most clients follow up their treatment after six to nine months to maintain a fresh appearance.
What do you do now?
If you would like to know more about how we can help, your next step is to make an appointment to see our nurse. At your appointment we will take a medical history and discuss your areas of concern, often we can proceed to treatment at this time if you would like to.
To minimise any potential side effects of pain, bruising and swelling, we use a gentle approach to dermal filling by using the innovative thin walled cannulae. When using the cannulae, the blunt tip gently pushes through the dermal tissues providing excellent results, reduced bruising, swelling and less pain. Todays dermal fillers contain local anaesthetic which further reduces pain during the procedure. When treating lips, we offer a nerve bock, similar to what you have at the dentist when having a filling, for example.
To complete the cosmetic effect of your treatment, we may advise that you have a combination of treatments including Azzalure®/Botox® or dermaroller.
